The Battery

The Battery is Rochester's first indoor baseball and softball training facility in Western New York.


In addition to our regular instructional programs, we provide individuals and teams with a facility where they can practice their hitting and defensive skills.


Individual pitching, catching, fielding and hitting lessons start right after Labor Day.  Call to reserve your spot for the season.


From September 1st to May 31st, The Battery cages ares open to the public on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Summer Camps


The Battery held three successful summer camps in July.  Keeping with the tradition started by Coach T twenty seven years ago, they were held at Bishop Kearney fields in Irondequoit. And one of this year's instructors attended the camps growing up and also attended our Winter Academies while in LL and high school.



The Battery welcomed students the weekend of October 29 and 30, 2016 to its successful winter academies.  The academies started their 31st season.



Battery Student Signs Letter of Intent with Div. 1 College


Battery student Grace Van Horn, a senior at Union Springs High School, signed her Letter of Intent to play softball next fall at Division 1 St. Bonaventure.

Grace trains year round at The Battery and has  been recognized for her impressive high school career.




   Battery Student Named Div. III 'Player of the Year'


Battery student Dominic 'Dom' Palma, a catcher at Hilton HS, was named Division III Player of the YearDom will play this fall at Manhattan College. He is another Battery success story!

Matt DeRoller (Bishop Kearney) and Sean Mannion (Irondequoit) received Honorable Mention.

Battery Student Named Scholar Athlete of the Week

Battery student Ally Uberty, a senior at LeRoy, has been named Scholar Athlete of the Week (April11th, 2016). Ally is not only an excellent athlete but a great student.  Congratulations!

Since the early 90s, when the program started, many Battery students have been recognized as Student Athletes.



Battery student Ally Uberty started her senior season striking out fifteen batters for LeRoy and added a triple at the plate.

Battery student Grace Van Horn threw a no-hitter for Union Springs to start her junior season, striking out twelve.  She also hit a triple and scored two runs.

Way to start the season, ladies!

BATTERY Starts its 30th Winter Academies!


On October 24th and 25th, 2015 The Battery started its 30th annual winter academies by welcoming groups of excited players to their successful 15-week winter program.

And heart warming for all of us is that among the students are sons and daughters of those who attended the academy  many years ago!  Those who were Battery students from little league to high school, and are now parents. What a great testimony ...


Battery Cages Open to the Public on Wednesday Starting on September 2nd


The cages will be open to the public  from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.


Battery Student Commits to Div 1 Manhattan College


Battery student Dominic Palma, a senior catcher at Hilton HS, has committed to attend Division 1 Manhattan College, a member of the MAAC. He will sign his Letter of Intent in November.

Sincere congratulations.  Hard work usually pays off!

Battery Student reaches the 200th hit of her career

Special congratulations to Battery student Hannah Anderson, a senior at Caledonia Mumford, who had the 200th hit of her outstanding high school career.. At yesterday's game (May 15, 2015) she hit a double and a solo home run.
Hannah will be attending Ithaca College in the fall.

Battery Student Named Liberty League Player of the Year

Congrats to Brittany Grage for being named the Liberty League Player of the Year! The U of R senior is one of the top college softball players in the country. Offensively, Grage batted .434 with 11 doubles, a school record-tying 14 home runs and 54 RBI's. As a pitcher, Grage went 12-4 with a 2.19 earned run average. Read more...

The following Battery students had home runs: Lea Buck (Gates Chili), Emily DeFilippo (Gates Chili), Abby Hibsch (Spencerport), Katie Skolnick (Fairport), Isabelle Selvek (Greece Olympia), Taryn Welch (Pittsford Mendon) and Jen Teerlinck (Irondequoit).

And pitchers also had very good outings:

* Grace Van Horn (Union Springs) 14 K in one game and 11 K in another

* Ally Uberty (LeRoy) 10 K in one game and 14 K in another

* Bri Walker (Gananda) 15 K in one game

* Nicole Carty (Pittsford Sutherland) a two hitter with 10 K

During the week of April 13th, several students had a perfect day offensively:

* Ariel Asito went 3 for 3 and slugged a stand up triple to help power Webster.

* Emily Mongelli went 4 for 4, with a double, a triple and six RBI for Irondequoit.

* Matt DeRoller went 3 for 3 in two games for Bishop Kearney.

* Sam Maniocci went 4 for 4 for Greece Odyssey.

* Brooke Wolfe went 4 for 4 with a grand slam for Brighton.

Battery Student Shines at 2015 Season Opener

Battery student Brittany Grage (Pittsford Mendon), a senior at the University of Rochester, led her alma mater to their first win of the season against Bethany College in Florida. She went 5-5, with two home runs and four RBI. The following day, Britt went 3-4 with two doubles.

Britt has been training year round at The Battery since middle school, and took two hitting lessons with Coach Fred this past week before flying to Florida.

Battery Alum Named "Cyclone of the Day"

Battery alum Maddie Reese (Pittsford Mendon), a senior at Iowa State was named on February 7 Cyclone of the Day after she went 3-5, with two home runs and five RBI in a game against South Dakota State.  Good job, Maddie!


Battery Student Named Scholar Athlete of the Week

Battery student Hannah Anderson, a senior at Caledonia Mumford HS, has been named by Ch 10 Scholar Athlete for the week of Jan 26.

Hannah has had a remarkable high school career and won a number of awards. Not only she excels on the field and was named to the elite  All Greater Rochester Softball Team, but is an excellent student who carries a 96.8 GPA..



Battery Student Signs Letter of Intent

Battery student  Leighann Pettis, a senior pitcher at Churchville Chili High School, signed a letter of intent to play collegiate softball. She will attend Seton Hill University, a Catholic  liberal arts university in Greensburg, a suburb of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Leighann plans on majoring in exercise science. Aidan Falk was also named the AGR Player of the Year.

On March 2nd, 2016 The Battery celebrated its 33th anniversary of training champions.

As a small family owned and run business, we are proud to contribute to make reality the dreams of thousands of young people.

We are proud of The Battery students who through the years have signed with Division 1 colleges and universities; proud of those who signed professional contracts , and proud to have  a Battery-trained student in the major leagues.

We are proud of the lives we have touched and the friends we have made.
