The Battery

The Battery is Rochester's first indoor baseball and softball training facility in Western New York.

In addition to our regular instructional programs, we provide individuals and teams with a facility where they can practice their hitting and defensive skills.

Battery's Riley Johnson Signs Letter of Intent with Syracuse

Riley Johnson Signs with Siracuse UniversityBattery student Riley Johnson, a senior infielder at Greece Athena High School,  signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at Syracuse. The six-year varsity starter was recruited by several colleges and universities. Riley is a member of the Battery Lighting Gold Travel Team.

A scholar athlete, she plans to major in communications with a concentration in TV and radio broadcasting.

Battery trained Andy Parrino called to major league

Andy Parrino to the San Diego PadresBattery alum and instructor Andy Parrino received the call from the San Diego Padres late on Wednesday, August 24.

Andy becomes the first non-pitcher from the greater Rochester area  to make it to the big leagues in the last 65 years. 

Although several Battery trained players have made it to the minor leagues, Andy is the first one to make it to the majors.

 

Battery Lighting Elite U-16 Team Earns Trip to Nationals

The Battery Lighting Elite U-16 team competed in the New York State  "A" Championship held in Waterloo.

It is official: Battery Alum is NYS Record Holder!

Although it took a long time to make it into the record books, Battery student Karl Nielsen, then a  senior at Spencerport  High School, had five hits in one game against Penfield, on May 23, 1993. A wonderful record of a dedicated baseball player which is now part of the history of The Battery and its many students!

Another perfect game this season!

Betsy Clark, a Battery student who is a senior pitcher at Bishop kearney High School, threw a perfect game on May 5, striking out  twelve batters. She also did  extremely well at the plate, going 4 for 4, and driving in two runs.
 
 

Battery Alum Named Rookie of the Week

Battery alum Jen Consaul, a freshman pitcher at Canisius College, was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on April 26. This marks the first time that a rookie pitcher has receievd a weekly honor from the conference.
Consaul went 1-0 with a save and 0.00 ERA last week in her two appearances. She earned her third save of the season on April 19, and on April 22, she tossed a complete game shutout.
 
 

A perfect game!

Junior pitcher Callianne Robbins threw a perfect game for Geneva against Midlakes on April 9.   Callianne trains with Battery instructor Courtney Fitzgerald Cardot and is a member of the Battery Lighting Elite team.
 
 

Battery Instructor Inducted into Hall of Fame

Courtney CardtotBattery instructor Courtney Fitzgerald Cardot  was inducted on April 14, 2011 into the Girls Catholic High School Hall of Fame of the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Courtney's career at The Mary Louis Academy was not only a success, it was quite remarkable. She was a 3-year varsity pitcher and had a 70-10 record, with 450 strikeouts in 346 innings. Read more about Courtney in Our Instructors section.

On June 5 Pittsford-Mendon defeated Victor, and earned the first sectional title in the history of their school.
